NamiGreen speaks at the Namibian National E-waste Management Workshop in October 2019

On October 31st 2019, NamiGreen gave a presentation of the challenges dealing with e-waste in Namibia. The presentation was hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology of Namibia (MICT).
The aim of the workshop was to discuss challenges and opportunities for dealing with electronic waste in Namibia.
The Government of Namibia represented by
- the Ministry of Environment and Tourism (MET)
- the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT)
- the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MHSS),
- the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development (MURD)
is implementing a National E-waste Management Policy to effectively deal with the growing amounts of e-waste in Namibia.
Challenges of dealing e-waste in Namibia includes long distances, lack of awareness and thereof small amounts of e-waste. As a company working with electronic waste you need volumes to make it a profitable business and to get to the volumes, awareness must be raised. Next, since Namibia is large country (4000 km from North to South), proper logistics and transportation must be in place.
