Different situations call for different measures – and as one might be surprised to know, the same holds true for wheelchairs. Did you know that there is such a thing as transport wheelchairs? These are special kinds of wheelchairs and some differences exist between it and the regular kind. If you have an ageing person or simply someone in need of being pushed around in one, you might find it to be a good alternative to try out. After all, there are many advantages to it too.

In a nutshell, transport wheel chairs were designed for the elderly to use. Mind you, it’s not for them to push themselves around – but rather for them to sit in a comfortable manner as someone else (like an aide or a family member) pushes them around. Aside from the elderly, transport wheelchairs are also good for those who have physical limitations and still need to get around doing their daily errands and tasks. While mobility is the main designing point in transport wheelchairs, they also answer certain emotional stigma which comes with being resigned to a chair.

First of all, transport wheelchairs are more mobile for those who have physical limitations because they are easier to get around than regular wheelchairs. Thus, there is less of that feeling of emotional isolation when you cannot join the family or your friends to places and activities that are not wheelchair-friendly. This type of wheelchair addresses that emotional isolation problem because it is made from lightweight material, thus enabling family members to easily lift and store the wheelchair in the back of the car for trips to the mall or out of town. It will not be a struggle to get it into place as well.

Second, transport wheelchairs are easier to store because they are foldable – unlike regular wheelchairs. You can bring your grandmother along with you to a long car trip without needing to sacrifice too much trunk space for the sake of the chair, because you can simply fold it up for easy storage. It is even a better alternative to canes or walkers because the person who needs it will be comfortable seated the entire time and the person who has to push will not be doing so with a struggle.

Third, transport wheelchairs are actually cheaper in cost compared to regular wheelchairs. You can easily buy one for less than two hundred dollars. The reason why it is cheaper is because of the material used. The lighter the material, the less expensive it is. The heavy duty and electric wheelchairs are quite expensive because manufacturers have to use industrial strength materials to make it, which adds to the cost. You could easily afford a transport wheelchair for your grandmother or family member who needs it.

And finally, wheelchairs for transport are also great as “light” practice for its users. Since it is lightweight, it is much easier for them to try and push themselves around. There is not much effort needed to push and pull because the aluminum is quite light.

If you are in need of wheelchairs for a family member, you should try getting transport wheelchairs . These are much different from regular wheelchairs – differences that you will surely appreciate.
