Press release July 13, 2010 Lifestyle

We have all seen the photos, in every brides magazine ever printed: the blushing bride, in either a demure lace gown, or a sultry and off the shoulder fashion statement, with her hair done in a special wedding updo, masses of curly ringlets.

We have all seen the photos, in every brides magazine ever printed: the blushing bride, in either a demure lace gown, or a sultry and off the shoulder fashion statement, with her hair done in a special wedding updo, masses of curly ringlets. No other updo wedding hairstyles are as timeless as this one.

These classic updo wedding hairstyles are centered around ringlets that will cascade from around the top of the crown, then up from the neck. This will probably require the assistance of at least one other set of hands, and if you practice creating this wedding updo often enough before the wedding, with enough assistance, you and your bridesmaids can get the same style at the same time.

Updo wedding hairstyles like this one works best with naturally curly or wavy hair. The best length for this wedding updo would be shoulder length or longer. Hair that is too fine or too thin might require some hair extensions to achieve the total look. Most face shapes will be framed beautifully with this style, but if not, you can redesign updo wedding hairstyles like this one so that it lays closer to the head with more volume added along the sides.

To lock the curls in, set the hair overnight with spiral curlers to create lots of tight curls. Then, on the day of your wedding, use a brush or comb to smooth and gather all of the hair on either side of your head above your ears, and pull it back to form a half pony that will sit high on top of the crown.

Merge the hair together to form a tightly angled sculpture, making sure that all the surrounding hair remains sleek and smooth. Secure the half pony with an elastic band. Place the 2nd finger of one hand about an inch and a half below the new half ponytail base, on top of the tail itself. Fold the entire half pony upwards and over, forming a small loop. Hold that loop firmly in place.

Use bobby pins to secure the loop and pin the top of the loop into place. Flatten it gently into place against the scalp, and pin the bottom of the loop. This should have lifted the ringlets up higher at the back of the crown. Using pins in a line, create a pinned seam that lets the ringlets cascade down the rest of your hair. Move that half pony cascade aside, and clip it to keep it out of the way. Take all of the remaining hair from the bottom and divide it. Part the two sections down the middle, and one at a time pull each of the two bottom hair sections up and over the clipped cascade, so that the hair is near the base of the half pony cascade. Make sure that the added hair creates a balanced shape, loose ends pinned in, then release the cascade. You should have a pinned cascade of ringlets and curls.

If you prefer bangs, you can either separate an extra section of hair, or use a hair extension with an artfully designed headband to complete the look. It is a shame to hide this style under a veil, but if you want to, go for it. Another way to show it off is to use a tiara trailing strands of pearls instead of a veil. Fresh flowers will also work wonderfully with this style, or you can simply leave it as is. However you embellish it, it is the perfect look to go along with your special day.
