Work Placements With Projects Abroad

Press release April 22, 2013 Tourism

Volunteer travel company Projects Abroad offer a wide variety of opportunities for people looking for something more than your standard holiday. They have over 100 generic placements worldwide, or can tailor make a program to suit your needs.

A popular choice for both graduates and professionals is one of the company’s many internships. These placements offer vital aid in the areas of medicine, journalism, law and human rights to name but a few, and are a great addition to any CV. These are available in a variety of destinations, depending on your interests. With media coverage recently highlighting police brutality in South Africa, it is becoming an increasingly popular choice with people wanting to gain experience in the rights sector. Volunteers will be based in the Projects Abroad Human Rights office in central Cape Town, which offer a variety of services and support to locals, including free and independent legal advice on a variety of issues including domestic violence, labour law and refugee rights.

Hailed as one of the most beautiful cities worldwide, Cape Town has had a troubled past, the effects of which can still be seen today. Maximum involvement is encouraged by volunteers, and although legal experience isn’t a necessity, enthusiasm, initiative and a passion and sensitivity for the subject area is. Typical days run from 8.30 till 4.30, and can see you writing up case reports, leading workshops or consulting with clients. This project is a fantastic, worthwhile event to help make a real change to people’s lives.

The placement is available year round, excluding Christmas, and can vary in length from 2 weeks to over 3 months. Naturally, the longer you stay, the more deeply involved you will become. All volunteers also get the opportunity to take part in a 7 day conservation project at the end of their stay. For more information visit Projects Abroad UK website.
