This New Year’s Eve will see the majority of local people staying at home, but still celebrating in style, reveals a survey by one of the UK’s leading fireworks supplier 1st Galaxy Fireworks.
A straw poll carried out by 1st Galaxy, has revealed that in an effort to keep costs down, as the challenging economic climate continues, seeing in 2010 will be more of a home affair. Over 65%* of people plan to stay in, carrying on the 2009 trend of ‘staying in being the new going out’ – but still with fun and frivolity in mind.
1st Galaxy (http://www.galaxy-fireworks.co.uk/) have seen a surge in interest for buying fireworks in the lead up to the 31st of December, as Lee Smith, Display Manager explains; ‘More and more people are keen to create their own entertainment – with fireworks being a fantastic way to ensure a special atmosphere, celebrate and involve the whole family without the cost.
With an average night out on New Year’s eve potentially costing up to 3 times as much as staying in – this option is seen as the perfect way to celebrate, indulge and be merry without the marked up taxi prices, potentially bad weather and expensive entry to bars and clubs.’
Lee continues; ‘What’s really interesting about the results is that 47% of people who aren’t going out, are purposefully choosing to stay in to save money – but still want to see 2009 out in style. The interest we have had is down to a fireworks display being a really economical way to give a stay-at-home celebration the edge –we offer party bags that start at just £11 or for those who want to splash out a little more there’s the Party Finale at £55 – not bad for a special night in!
‘Of course, our main priority for home displays is always our customers’ safety – which is why we recently launched a ‘How-to-buy fireworks guide’ (http://www.galaxy-fireworks.co.uk/docs/how_to_buy.pdf) to help people make informed choices as to which fireworks are most suitable for home displays, and providing a comprehensive safety guide as to how to best launch fireworks.’
