Dual-function furnishings are a must for people who own small homes, Karen Broderick has suggested as they boost the amount available space.

Sofa beds can also serve this purpose by combining two pieces of furniture into a single item, she added.

According to Miss Broderick, purchasing furniture that has legs is also advisable, she added, as low-to-the-ground fixtures often play a trick on the eye, making it appear as if an area is more cramped.
