Research out this week shows eating and drinking out of home slows in January

A pattern replicated in the furniture market with a rise in dining furniture sales, Karen Broderick, trend watch expert at Harveys, comments.

Recent research published by Peach Factory a new data analyst system show that out of the home food and drink sales were 12.5% down on December.  This downward trend is having effects on other areas of retail, Harveys the furniture store for instance has recently seen an uplift in the sales of dining table and chair sets as more people entertain at home.

Karen Broderick, trend watch expert at Harveys, the furniture store comments:

"The furniture market tends to be at the forefront of any changes in the economy due to the high importance people place on the furniture we have in our homes.  The rise in dining sets over the past few months has been marked, with some ranges seeing up to a 18% uplift and what is interesting is that these are across a broad range of styles indicating a response to the changed economic climate rather than a pure fashion trend".
