Opal Property Group Wins Award For Best Private Student Halls 2009

Press release August 28, 2009 Education

Student Accommodation Company Wins The National Student Housing Survey Best Private Halls Award.

London 4 Bedroom Day

(Manchester 28th August 2009)  Opal Property Group is the winner of the National Student Housing Survey (NSHS) Best Private Halls 2009.

The National Student Housing Survey (NSHS) is an annual survey of students in higher education across the UK. The survey measures satisfaction levels in all types of accommodation, and allows participating institutions to measure their performance against national and regional benchmarks. The 2009 survey attracted around 9,000 responses from more than 80 universities and colleges.

Opal was formed in 1982 and now owns and operates over 18,000 student beds in 14 UK cities, many under lease or nomination with Universities and other institutions.  Opal is opening new halls in London, Nottingham and Sheffield in September

Gavin Duncan, National Operations Manager states ‘Opal is delighted to have won this award based on an independent survey of nearly 9,000 students across the UK.  It is a great recognition for our 400 + staff for the welcoming environment they create for our residents, many of whom are away from home for the first time.  Opal recognises that student living is about more than simply providing a room; it is about the whole student experience; and we have developed our halls to include 24 hour on site staff presence, stylish purpose built designs for the living and communal areas and  7 of our halls even have on site gyms and swimming pools’.
