Aimed at machine rental businesses, the construction sector and manufacturing industry, the Trackunit DualID combines fleet management and user authentication with a compact and easy to fit ID reader.

Operating over 100,000 active units worldwide, Trackunit is among the leading providers of fleet management solutions for machinery manufacturers, the manufacturing industry, the rental sector, and the construction business. The vendor is now introducing the Trackunit DualID telematics solution that, featuring a separate and compact ID reader, is easy to install in the machine.

DualID is a refinement of the Trackunit SmartID, which has become very popular by incorporating user identification and GPS based fleet management in a single unit.

Reduced risk of accidents and abuse
– Development of the new solution was initiated following customer requests. The background is a desire to separate the GPS unit from the ID reader, thus ensuring greater installation flexibility. In addition, by separating the two devices, you also allow them to operate independently of each other to further enhance security, explains Mark Smyth, Country Manager of Trackunit.

The Trackunit DualID allows access to machines using either a RFID card or a PIN. It is compliant with IPAF Smart PAL Cards along with the ID06 standard of Sweden and a number of other national echo systems, thus combining access control with security against unauthorized use. At the same time, the user identification makes it simple for rental companies to bill customers based on their actual, individual use – not least when resident machinery on major construction sites is used by different persons and contractors.

– For most businesses, the repayment period will be brief. Rental agencies achieve simpler administration and may invoice accurately based on the use data recorded, while end users can more easily optimize operations and safeguard themselves against accidents and abuse, stresses Mark Smyth.

The Trackunit DualID system may be used with all types of equipment in the building and manufacturing industries – including construction machinery as well as lifting and material handling equipment. The product is aimed at machinery manufacturers, rental companies, contractors and industrial businesses.

Administration centrally and locally
– As the DualID is fully integrated with our Trackunit Manager™ fleet management portal, user administration may be performed centrally in the office. However, it is also possible to create a new user ID locally on the machine itself, says Mark Smyth of Trackunit.

The new product has just launched globally and may be purchased directly from Trackunit’s regional sales organization covering Ireland and the UK.

Trackunit has, since 2003, been developing and manufacturing machine telematics solutions. Its portfolio ranges from user authentication and GPS tracking to complex CAN bus solutions as well as turnkey management and optimization concepts for major fleets. The systems are sold globally through subsidiaries and partners – and used with over 100,000 machines and vehicles worldwide. www.trackunit.co.uk
