After the supernatural stylings of Shadows of the Slums, we decided it was about time we introduced you to the more human side of London – the figures, both well-known and obscure, that we’ve come to know and love.

There are so many brilliant, barely-believable personal stories that have gone into making London what it is. Painter, Sailor, Solider, Giant is our tribute to the eclectic, whimsical and downright fascinating characters who have played their part in the development of our city. Discover their tales as you venture through the leisure and legal heartlands of London.
