London furniture sales 'rising' as Harveys open new flagship store on Tottenham Court Road

Harveys open a brand new flagship store concept on Tottenham Court Road as new figures reveal furniture buying in the capital is on the rise.

26^th December, the day when shoppers traditionally dash out to kit their homes out in new furniture at rock bottom prices will also be the date that Harveys open a brand new concept store on Tottenham Court Road.  The store will carry an exciting new range of furniture styles in contemporary new designs akin to the savvy, design led London shopper.

Statistics from the British Retail Consortium and KPMG for November show that furniture purchases continued to do well despite the current economic climate.

According to the organisations, interest in furniture was boosted by a range of discounts available.

Commenting on the data, Stephen Robertson noted that big-ticket items are "doing well" in London.

"These are great figures - the best sales growth for three years," he remarked. "These figures show London retailers have had a very encouraging start to Christmas."

Head of retail at KPMG Helen Dickinson recently claimed that UK sales of furniture "had another good month" in November as more people look to get items in before the end of the year.
