LOCAL BUSINESS MAN HEADS TO LONDON FOR HAT TRICK

Press release April 13, 2010 Sport

Thrapston resident and local business man Craig Revell is facing another marathon challenge as he gears up to run the London Marathon this year for the third time

Thrapston resident and local business man Craig Revell is facing another marathon challenge as he gears up to run the London Marathon this year for the third time.

Craig, 42, is usually seen attending to his hectic business affairs, but on April 25th he will be donning his shorts and running the 26.2 mile London race to raise much needed cash for Whizz-kidz.

“I don’t usually get much exercise, but I have been training hard throughout the winter, and I am ready for the London challenge again”, says Craig.  “This time of year marks the end of a gruelling preparation period for all the hundreds of great minded people that take up the London race”, he adds.

The hard work will all be worthwhile for Craig if he succeeds in raising his £8,500 target for Whizz-Kidz, a charity providing mobility equipment for children.  “We have just over £6,400 raised so far, however it would be great if in these final days we could generate enough further interest to hit the target” Craig explains.

Whizz-Kidz is a charity that is all about giving disabled children and young people the independence to enjoy an active childhood – at home, at school and at play. By providing them with customized mobility equipment, training, advice and life skills, they actually give them something much more important; the independence to be themselves. Whizz-Kidz makes an immediate and life changing difference to young people’s lives and their families.

“My campaign slogan “I’m running for kidz that can’t” really takes onboard what the Charity is all about” says Craig. “I really want to say a massive thank you to everyone that has supported me, and to anyone considering sponsoring me I would say, if it gives you the same pleasure it has given me to raise money for kidz, it will be worth every penny”.

“My family have been a great support in bearing with me on the training time required to prepare for a challenge like this, in particular my son and daughter who have kept me supplied with drinks and even joined in on long Sunday runs”.

You can sponsor Craig by visiting his online fundraising page on www.justgiving.com/Craig-Revell.  You can pay by credit or debit card, and the money will go directly to Whizz-Kidz. Where supporters are UK taxpayers, the charity will automatically receive 28% extra in Gift Aid, which makes Justgiving a great and secure way to sponsor Craig.
