Historic Mill Reinvigorated As Modern Meeting Room

An 18th Century Lace Mill has been given a new lease of life after being transformed into a modern meeting room facility.

Now guests will be able to enjoy the building’s historic beauty over 300 years after it was first built.

The Lace Mill, in Beeston, which once functioned as a fully operational lace mill during the industrial revolution and is a listed building will now play host to a range of modern businesses.

After extensive redevelopment the venue now boasts full conference hosting technology including a wall projector, TV and video facility and wi-fi and is already attracting bookings from firms located all over the UK.

Up to 90 guests can be accommodated in the 2000 sq ft room making it an ideal location for firms to hold meetings, conferences, training events, launch parties and interviews.

Whilst ensuring the venue met the needs of businesses, developers were keen to keep the historic details of the mill intact with the exposed brickwork, large windows and high ceilings left untouched, resulting in an airy and spacious conference area.

Lee Bown, owner of Recart Ltd. who now rent out the mill was delighted to find a use for such a wonderful and charismatic building.

Lee said: “I saw the building and was impressed with the amount of space it offered. I couldn’t believe that nobody had though of using it as a meeting room, especially with such great natural light.

“Its nice to find a use for such an interesting building especially in the modern age of generic meeting rooms which all look the same.

“As with all new business ventures it was a bit of a gamble but we’re taking more and more bookings each week which I think can be attributed to people visiting the building and enjoying its unique charm.”

Recart Ltd. have been inundated with booking requests for the venue and Lee attributes this partly to the best economic conditions he has witnessed in the past year.

The venue which can be hired either by the hour, half day or full day provides an option for businesses working within a range of budgets, with a full day’s hire costing £150.
