Global Warming

Press release March 23, 2012 Energy & Environment

Global warming is a significant change happening to the environment we live in. It mainly affects the weather patterns over periods ranging from decades to millions of years. You may be confused with all the different points associated with climate change; however this article will outline the fundamental points around global warming and its affects.

What is Global Warming?

The term Global Warming is usually associated with human activity; this is opposed to the change in climate due to the earth’s natural processes. Global Warming refers to the temperature of the earth's surface that has increased due to higher greenhouse gas levels. The Greenhouse gas affect is where our atmosphere is polluted from high levels of CO2, this creates a layer so light radiation from the sun is trapped and cannot escape our atmosphere. The trapped heat is then reflected back to the earth’s surface, heating atmosphere and increasing ocean temperatures.

What effect does Global Warming have?

The main effect Global warming has is evident on the polar ice caps. With the earth temperatures increasing, it becomes more difficult for the ice caps to stay frozen. The melting ice caps have a detrimental effect on the earth’s climate. When the cold water from the frozen ice caps reaches the Gulf Stream, it causes a change in the make-up of the current. When diluted with cold water, the Gulf Stream can change the climate of many countries.

What can we do to help?

Although what is done cannot be reversed, the public can to things to prevent global warming progressively getting worse in the future. Simple changes to day to day life like walking instead of driving can help. At home, maximizing you heating system can reduce you carbon footprint as well as you monthly outgoings. Fitting Thermostatic Radiator Valves and Aluminium Radiators Eco Series Radiators can furthermore help improve your carbon footprint and reduce your heating bills. A carbon footprint is the measurement of the total greenhouse gas emissions caused directly and indirectly by a person, organisation, event or product.

It’s the small alterations that make a big difference. A little but often can have dramatic effect, if everyone plays a part, the UK will be making a huge difference to the world we live in.
