dot-art.com Presents: “Memoirs of a Pedestrian – New Work by Nathan Pendlebury” Exhibition: 15th June - 17th July 2009.

Press release May 29, 2009 Culture

dot-art's first solo show of 2009 will showcase the paintings and photographs of celebrated local artist Nathan Pendlebury, who looks towards the urban environment for his inspiration. The exhibition will include an exclusive first look at exciting new abstract work created in Merseyside, New York and Italy.

Born 1973 in Chester, Nathan Pendlebury studied Fine Art at Warrington Collegiate Institute and Liverpool John Moores University. He grew up in the North-West of England in Chester, Salford, Manchester, and Warrington. Nathan currently lives and works from his studio space in Bootle near to Liverpool City Centre.

He has won acclaim for both his painting and photography; he was selected to show in the 2007 International Chelsea Fine Art Competition in New York, was a Prizewinner for the 3rd and 4th National Wirral Open Exhibitions, and was short-listed for a prize in the 2007 Sefton Open. Last year Nathan was also commissioned by John Lewis, Liverpool to create a series of paintings for their Espresso Bar. He often exhibits with his father Tony, the two artists collectively going under the name of “Erpen”. (The name comes from and is dedicated to Eric Pendlebury, father to Anthony, who signed his paintings “Erpen'”.) In 2008 the pair enjoyed great success with eight two man shows  around the North West of England.

The artist has this to say about his work;
"My painting, drawing and photography looks toward the presence of man within an urban and suburban environment, without necessarily being direct in figurative terms."
Lucy Byrne of dot-art said:

“We have been working with Nathan for nearly three years now, and I am personally a huge fan of his work. We are delighted to be able to share this collection of contemporary art work with a wider audience by staging a solo exhibition. Nathan's accessible, attractive and minimalist style makes his work ideal for modern interiors and a fantastic addition to any home or business.”

All work is for sale, with prices starting under £35.

The exhibition is open to the public at dot-art, 16 Queen Avenue, Castle Street, 12-6pm Monday – Friday and by appointment, from Monday 15th June to Friday 17th July. Please see www.dot-art.com or call 0845 0176660 for more details.
