Curb Appeal

Press release June 27, 2012 Homes & Gardens

See how you can improve your home

If you are selling your house then curb appeal is something you need to take very seriously. A large percentage of home buyers decide whether or not to look inside a house depending on its curb appeal. Curb appeal is how attractive your home looks from the outside, it may be hard to determine what appeals to others as you may have lived in your home for many years but it may be time to step back and look at your home from a buyer’s perspective. Even if you think your home just needs slight improvement or a small facelift curb appeal means everything.

First Impressions

What are the first impressions of your house and garden? It may only need a quick tidy or the grass may need cutting, it can be the little things that improve overall impressions. Sweep the path outside the front of the property and make sure the border (if you have one) of the lawn is straight and the plants in the border are well kept, tidy and watered.

The front door can tell a lot about a property. Make sure your front door is clean and well-kept and make sure there is no paint falling off; and if there is give it a fresh lick of paint. If you have a UPVC door then also make sure it is clean, and ensure it opens easily, without awkward creeks and sticks.

A great way to show off your home is to add new house numbers. This will make it easy for people to find your house when viewing, plus gives any home a fitting touch. If you own a house that will benefit from the antique theme then antique door furniture will look best. Dress the front of your home with Door knobs and pulls, antique door stops, numbering, letterboxes plus many more.

Enhance What You Already Have

If your home is packed with great features make sure you show them off. With sash windows, make sure they are clean and if they look a bit tired then see if they need a coat of paint.

Got a great driveway? Then make sure it doesn’t look tired, if it’s been neglected then act now. It may just need jet washing or new sand to fill the gaps.

The Back

People viewing the house will want to take a look at the back of the property too. If they can see the back garden from the street it will definitely be worth spending a bit of time and money on this area of your home.

Night

If someone is interested in your house then they may pay the street a visit at night, as this time of the day is perfect to not be seen. To make your house stand out from the rest and look inviting, it may be worth investing in some outdoor lighting. Why not try some solar lights to keep energy costs down at the same time.
