Charles Linden: How I Used My Own Anxiety to Help Cure Celebrities and Supermodels

Press release June 1, 2012 Health

After helping thousands of people to overcome their anxieties; could The Linden Method work for you?

He has helped many Hollywood stars suffering from anxiety in Los Angeles, but therapist Charles Linden hasn’t turned his back on the UK. The 44-year-old, father-of-two still lives in his home town of Kidderminster in the Midlands, where some of his A-list clients travel the depth of the country to see him.

Charles’ impressive client list includes make-up artist Jemma Kidd, her supermodel sister Jodi and American Vogue’s fashion editor Plum Sykes. However, there are many more who remain anonymous.

Some of the A-listers travel to his home for treatment, although Charles revealed “I also go to their houses too. I build bespoke plans for them but I don’t just treat celebrities. I have people from all walks of life attending my clinic.”

Charles has also features on Gok wan’s show Gok’s teens: The Naked Truth on Channel 4, where he helped youths using his programme called The Linden Method.

Linden knows exactly what his clients are experiencing, he suffered from anxiety from a young age; having frequent panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder and other phobias. He would refuse to go on school trips as a child but didn’t receive a diagnosis until he was 18. He explains, “I had experienced anxiety with OCD between the ages of 12 and 14 and was generally an anxious child but learned to live with it.”

“After an anxiety ‘breakdown’ at the age of 23, my doctor prescribed anti-depressants and sedatives and then re-prescribed them without question.

“But they just made me feel progressively more ill and produced dramatic side effects. When I tried to stop them I had horrific withdrawal.”

In 1997 he devised a method himself that seemed to work. “I decided to take it by the horns and do something myself. I devised a life practice and through that I realised that, when I was feeling really bad, the thing that helped me was creativity.” Within two days his life had completely turned around.

He then began helping others around him who suffered from similar problems; writing plans specifically for them, and before he knew it he has received 12,000 emails from people asking for his help.

Knowing there was no way he would be able to respond to that many people he decided to put something down on CD. From that he produced a DVD and eventually set up practice. Since then he has used his method to treat more than 136,000 sufferers worldwide, teaching them how to undermine and eliminate anxiety by complying with a set of simple rules. He shows them how to retrain their subconscious so that they can react appropriately to anxious thoughts and situations.

Celebrity make-up artist Jemma revealed that she and her sister Jodi have received treatment from Charles. She suffered panic attacks throughout her 20s. Jodi’s panic attacks were so bad she had to give up catwalk work because of the fear she experienced stepping out onto the runway. They found Charles through an internet search and after buying his book and CD, felt better within days.

Charles has also helped 26-year-old Andrew from Kidderminster who suffered with health anxiety, believing he had a number of ailments. After being to see his GP and receiving treatment at a well-known clinic, Andrew felt nothing seemed to help. He read about The Linden Method and decided to try the treatment. He has been anxiety free ever since.
