ACQUIRE ADDS FREE TEMPLATE EDITOR TO LOW COST SOLO BOX.

The popular template based digital signage solution, SOLO, now has its own template designer, making it a true total digital signage solution in a single box.

Acquire’s recently launched, out-of-the-box SOLO product is an entry level digital signage solution for the education and small retail outlet, market segments. Using a Windows Embedded operating system and running on a mini-PC, the SOLO box benefits from Acquire’s existing play-out technology. The package is completed by the addition of Acquire’s patented software Sentinel which locks down the PC, and a browser based content management system. The box also comes with a selection of standard templates that the designers at Acquire customise for clients as required.

Like so many of Acquire’s products, SOLO has already evolved. As before, users access the SOLO content manager via a simple web browser e.g. Internet Explorer, Mozilla or Chrome. The difference now is that they can edit existing templates or even create new templates on which to base their page designs. So what happens if you already have a SOLO box without the template editor function? Well, you need not worry because all SOLO boxes have a software update function built in. Users just have to press the download button in order to benefit from the new feature, free of charge.

“The demand for template modification started to become unmanageable as sales increased, so we decided to offer the user their own Editor. The Editor function mirrors that of the full Acquire Premier Editor so it gives users valuable experience should they want to upgrade” explained Paul Mayer, Sales & Marketing Manager for Acquire Digital.

Acquire’s strategy when it comes to software has always been to (a) provide a platform onto which custom software can be developed (b) include a plug-in based technology to enable rapid development of new features and (c) enable a simple upgrade path for users as their digital signage network grows. SOLO is designed as the ideal solution for a single screen digital sign. Low cost, supplied in a shoe-box sized package and easy to use straight out of the box. You can even mount it on the back of a standard VESA LCD or Plasma display. But the really clever thing about SOLO is that in essence, its core is an Acquire Player - the same Acquire Player that is evident in over 15,000 digital signage, and kiosk PCs the world over. Simply by purchasing one of Acquire’s Editor packages, such as Acquire Premier, DS or KD the SOLO user can take the first step in creating a network of any size.
