Save Millions by Optimising Product Flow

Pressemeddelelse december 18, 2007 Business

Reduced packaging consumption, lowered costs for transport, transport damage and incorrect deliveries, as well as optimised utilisation of the warehouse function are all typical results when Danish companies optimise their product flow and supply chains, explains Consultant Jens Corfitzen from OptiSoft.

"With internationalisation, new environmental demands regarding packaging and increasing imports from new suppliers in the Far East, transport and packaging occupy an ever increasing portion of costs. Therefore, it is clearer than ever that Danish companies can reap significant benefits through efforts to optimise the management and handling of their product flow."

These are the words of Consultant Jens Corfitzen from OptiSoft, a Scandinavian specialist in software and solutions for supply chain management. Jens Corfitzen emphasises that effective product flow management and handling has become a critical success parameter, which includes reduced packaging consumption, lowered costs for transport, transport damage and incorrect deliveries, as well as optimised utilisation of the warehouse function.

"We often see that implementation of an optimised product flow transforms shaky businesses into solid successes by providing double-digit cost cuts on the path from supplier to end user," says Jens Corfitzen, adding that most people are surprised when they see what large benefits can be gained.

"Furthermore, we see that when companies take a free trial of relevant software, they are pleasantly surprised by the fact that they can easily click their way to all relevant specifications regarding packaging and packing in their supply chain and then calculate where it can be profitable to make changes to reduce packaging consumption, transport costs and warehouse utilisation."

Jens Corfitzen continues by explaining that the newest software, which provides the opportunity to distribute all selected solutions via internet, completely replaces the old-fashioned ring binder with manual calculations and drawings. In conclusion, he adds that optimisation systems from OptiSoft can be linked to information regarding product numbers and order numbers in companies' ERP systems, such that production and warehouse employees can quickly look up information and see how a specific order is to be packed and loaded.
