Australia - New BIM requirements and World Expo 2020 Ignites Huge Demand for BIM Services in Dubai

Dubai’s new circular on BIM requirements and the upcoming World Expo 2020 creates a significant rise in demand for BIM services in Dubai. In order to meet the increased demand, Copenhagen-based, full service BIM Company, BIM Equity, has joined hands with Dubarch/ARA design, one of the leading architectural companies in the United Arab Emirates.

BIM technology has been gaining ground all over the world. Now Dubai accelerates the development by requiring BIM deliveries on a number of building projects in the region. The aim is to improve building design and constructions and at the same time ensure that all major construction projects are conducted with the aid of the latest digital building technologies. The BIM circular applies for building projects higher than 40 floors, buildings larger than 28,000 m2, hospitals, universities and other public buildings as well as all projects conducted by subsidiaries of foreign companies in Dubai.

The new BIM requirements, coupled with the expected, extensive construction activities for the World Expo 2020 that is forecasted to create 277,000 new jobs and contribute up to $40 billion to the United Arab Emirates economy, will ignite a new market for BIM services.

The new partnership between Copenhagen-based BIM Equity and Dubarch/ARA design means that BIM Equity will help Dubarch to facilitate BIM services such as quality requirements, interference checking and preparation of BIM models for a number of Dubai-based projects.
