A special collection of ephemera and personal photographs of the artist, courtesy of kelle Inman is up for exhibition near Copenhagen in Denmark.

The exhibition will run from November 30th 2012 – January 15th 2013 – over 30 different photos and Polaroids will be up for the show.

The original collection has been sold off in small parts and this is the biggest part that has stayed together. Kelle Inman originally sold the collection to gallerist Jonathan Brown from

Lead Apron, a gallery on Melrose Place.

Inman and Basquiat met when she was working as a waitress at Nell’s; two days later, she was living with him. “She didn’t really know who he was,” says The Radiant Child director Tamra Davis, who knew Inman during the relationship.

There are photos he took in New Orleans that he used as references for his artwork. He wrote on them, ‘4x5, one reg’—meaning he meant to blow them up and use them as source material. These are Basquiat’s curatorial picks—his edited life.… This is a trail—a genealogy of ideas says Jonathan Brown.

Also images of celebrities such as David Byrne and Michael Chow and of course portraits of Kelle Inman.

The collection is now owned by gallerist Peter Hvidberg the owner and gallery director of MultiplesInc Projects outside Copenhagen, Denmark.
